Ceramic Sculpture with an organic, simple elegance

Pam Sauer Studio Thank you for visiting my web site. I find the world of art to be both nurturing and strengthening. Whether it is about admiring the work of the old masters, or engaging in lively conversations about pop art and “statement art” with fellow artists, I always feel fortunate to have found the right side of my brain.

My passion is clay. I love the way this earthy material feels in my hands, its flexibility and versatility, always forgiving and moving. I favor sculpture with my main emphasis on human figure. By choice, I live totally in an asymmetrical world, thus, the lovely, graceful curves and turns of our bodies is what most attract me. I have learned through sculpting that all human bodies are perfect by design of their own being.

Animal sculpting is another love of mine. Their strengths and displays of vulnerability never leave me with feelings of boredom. I fed a giraffe an apple out of my mouth and a few years later, I fed a rhinoceros an apple out of my hand. I once swam with the dolphins, an awe-inspiring feeling washed over me for weeks. In the near future, I plan to put these experiences to clay.

I am fortunate to have studied with Lisa Reinertson a world-renowned sculptor, whose emphasis is on public art. I most love creating large vessels in the female, human form, which both calls to the mother and the capacity for unconditional love that I believe exists in all humans.
